Deterioration of turbine oil (turbine oil) and solutions

Time: 2024-11-27 | Reading volume: 0

Turbine oil, commonly known as turbine oil, plays a lubricating and cooling role in the bearings of the turbine and a pressure transmission and speed regulation role in the speed control system. The quality of turbine oil directly affects the safe and economical operation of the turbine unit.

Acid value is an important indicator for new and operating turbine oil, as well as one of the important indicators reflecting the degree of oil aging. It is also one of the control indicators for newly refined oil, and it appears normal from the indicators. Emulsification resistance is a quality indicator for evaluating the anti emulsification performance of oil products. During operation, turbine oil is gradually aged due to the influence of humidity, air, moisture, etc. The substances produced after aging, such as cyclic burning acid soap and gum, are emulsifiers. Oil often leaks into the system due to improper equipment or operation. Causing oil emulsification. After oil emulsification enters the bearing lubrication system, water may precipitate, damaging the normal oil film, increasing friction of components, causing local overheating, bearing wear, unit vibration, and corrosion. Severe emulsified oil may deposit in the speed control circulation system, causing the operating oil to not flow smoothly and unable to provide good lubrication and speed control. In order to prevent oil emulsification, turbine oil must have good demulsification properties. Under normal conditions, air release engine oil can dissolve 10% of the volume of air, which increases with the increase of external pressure. When the pressure drops, the dissolved air forms small bubbles and is released. The evaluation of oil gas release ability is usually based on the air release value. Poor air release performance of turbine oil may increase its compressibility, leading to control system failure, noise and vibration, and in severe cases, equipment damage; May reduce the effective volume of the oil pump and lower the outlet pressure of the pump, especially for centrifugal pumps; May accelerate the deterioration of oil.

Foam characteristics Due to the forced circulation of the turbine oil in the oil system, the air is agitated violently, and foam and bubbles will be generated on the oil surface. The generation of foam can make the oil pressure of the oil pump not affect the circulating lubrication of the oil, resulting in wear. At the same time, the oil pressure is unstable, affecting the rectification, and sometimes leading to false oil level in the oil system, so the oil must have good foam characteristics.

During the operation of antioxidant stabilizers, the turbine oil is exposed to a large amount of air, and the oxidation of the oil is mainly due to the action of oxygen in the air. In addition, temperature, pressure, flow rate, catalysts, and other miscellaneous activities such as moisture and stroke can all ensure the oxidation of the oil. The oxidation of oil is not only influenced by the boundary, but its internal factor is mainly the chemical composition of the oil. Oil has different compositions and oxidation tendencies, and its oxidation products are also different. In short, the initial products of hydrocarbon oxidation are mostly hydrocarbon peroxides, which then decompose into acids, alcohols, ketones, etc., and further condense into tree lipids, colloids, asphaltenes, etc. These substances can lead to the deterioration of other properties of the oil, bring a series of adverse factors to the operating oil, and affect the cooling and lubrication effects. Therefore, oil products should have good oxidation stability.

Preventing water ingress and emulsification of turbine oil is crucial for ensuring the design, manufacturing, installation, operation, and maintenance of turbine equipment, as well as the quality of turbine oil, in order to prevent and eliminate water ingress into the turbine oil system.

To ensure the quality of product design and manufacturing. Unreasonable design and product manufacturing that does not meet design requirements directly lead to water ingress into the turbine oil system.

2. During the operation of the unit, the turbine oil filter (turbine oil filter) shall be put into operation, and the regulating and lubricating oil in the oil system of the turbine generator unit shall be subject to oil-water separation and impurity filtration in a timely manner. During the start-up, shutdown, and normal operation of the unit, it is necessary to control the shaft seal pressure and temperature, and prohibit the shaft seal from carrying water. At the same time, the oil system components must be manufactured, installed, and operated to ensure that the equipment components are clean, sealed, and comply with various cleanliness standards specified by the manufacturer.

3. The purchased turbine oil must meet the technical indicators specified in the national standard GB1120-89, especially the anti emulsification performance and acid value indicators, which must be guaranteed. At the same time, the turbine oil should be used in accordance with the "L-TSA Turbine Oil Change Fingerboard

According to SH/T0636-1996, regular sampling and inspection are required, and measures should be taken promptly if any problems are found. 4. For emulsified turbine oil, power plants can also add emulsifiers to the oil according to the situation to improve the anti emulsification performance of the turbine oil. Using emulsifiers to break the emulsion film on the surface of oily fruits, releasing water and achieving the purpose of water removal.
